American jazz drummer, composer, and educator born in 1962 in Longview, Washington. A Portland-based musician since the 1980s, Jones has performed and recorded with numerous jazz legends and founded the Alan Jones Academy of Music, an innovative educational program recognized for developing professional-level jazz musicians.
