Lorca Hart Bridges Trio
Drummer Lorca Hart brings his Bridges Trio to Keys Jazz Bistro for two sets, blending straight-ahead jazz standards with contemporary compositions from Pat Metheny, John Scofield, and Josh Redman. The California Institute of the Arts graduate, mentored by Albert "Tootie" Heath and Charlie Haden, has performed with jazz luminaries including Ralph Moore, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, and Julian Lage.
The Bridges Trio concept bridges the classic jazz organ sound with modern elements, featuring Brian Ho on Hammond B3 and Tony Peebles on saxophone. Ho, a San Francisco organist rooted in the tradition of Jimmy Smith and Dr. Lonnie Smith, has developed his own contemporary approach to organ jazz and performed at major festivals like Stanford Jazz Festival and San Jose Jazz Festival. Peebles brings two decades of experience spanning hard bop to Latin jazz, having recorded with the Grammy-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra and performed with funk legend Fred Wesley.
Expect a sound that honors the deep groove and soulful tradition of organ trios while exploring more adventurous harmonic territory. Hart's drumming draws from his rich musical lineage—he's the son of drumming legend Billy Hart—but has carved out his own artistic identity through years of West Coast scene work. His playing is described as both sumptuous and elegantly ferocious, adapting chameleon-like to create the rhythmic foundation rather than simply blend into it.
The Bridges Trio represents Hart's vision to provide "deepening creative musical experiences," combining his dedication to jazz tradition with contemporary exploration. This is organ trio music that respects the past while pushing into new territory, delivered by three musicians deeply versed in both the classic repertoire and modern jazz language.
