Louis Sweatt

Edward Louis Smith was an American jazz trumpeter from Memphis, Tennessee (1931-2016) who balanced a career as both a performer and educator. After early recordings for Blue Note Records in the 1950s, he became a respected music teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta and later at the University of Michigan, while continuing to perform and record for SteepleChase Records.
