Joe Evans (1916-2014) was an American jazz alto saxophonist who had an illustrious career spanning from 1939 to 1965, performing with major jazz and swing orchestras including those led by Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Andy Kirk, and Jay McShann. Beyond his work as a sideman, he founded Carnival Records in 1961 and later worked as a producer and dairy inspector before retiring to Richmond, Virginia.
