Le Boeuf Brothers

GRAMMY-winning identical twins Remy and Pascal Le Boeuf return to their hometown venue where they first learned jazz as students in the Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band. This homecoming performance celebrates the release of their new album, Off Center, with Remy on alto saxophone and Pascal on piano, joined by tenor saxophonist Ben Flocks, bassist Martin Nevin, and drummer Christian Euman.

The Le Boeuf Brothers create modern jazz that blends sophisticated compositional structures with influences from electronica, indie rock, and contemporary classical music. Their sound features textured harmonies, shifting time signatures, and what The New York Times calls a "hyper-fluent streamlined modern ideal." After winning consecutive GRAMMYs for their compositional projects (Pascal in 2025, Remy in 2026), they've become known for genre-defying works that range from the intimate, experimental atmospheres of their 2023 album HUSH to collaborations with string quartets and electronic artists.

Past performances at Kuumbwa have showcased their ability to create "an impressively cohesive" ensemble experience, as DownBeat observed of their 2016 hometown show, where audience members saw familiar faces from their Santa Cruz upbringing and the evening carried "the communal spirit of a family reunion." The brothers' connection to this venue runs deep—they began their careers busking on Santa Cruz streets before becoming Kuumbwa students, honor band members, and eventually headliners.

Beyond Le Boeuf Brothers, Remy leads the jazz orchestra Assembly of Shadows and serves as chief conductor of Denmark's Nordkraft Big Band, while Pascal tours with his trio Pascal's Triangle featuring bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Justin Brown. Both brothers are dedicated educators: Remy directs Jazz and Commercial Music Studies at the University of Denver, while Pascal, a Guggenheim Fellow with a Ph.D. from Princeton, teaches at MIT.

Expect an evening of cerebral yet accessible modern jazz that balances compositional sophistication with spontaneous interplay, performed by artists who understand both the technical demands of contemporary jazz and the emotional resonance that makes music memorable.
