Fog City Swing
Prepare to be transported back to the golden age of swing as Fog City Swing takes the stage at their home base, The Dawn Club. Dubbed "the world's smallest big band," this seven-piece ensemble has rapidly become one of the Bay Area's preeminent jazz and swing groups since their formation in 2023 by trumpeter Daniel Herrera and saxophonist Greg Johnson.
Fog City Swing delivers an electrifying blend of classic swing, hard bop, and unexpected favorites with their signature three-horn front line, stellar crooning vocals, and "swing till you drop" rhythm section. Their setlist spans from timeless Sinatra and Count Basie standards to surprising takes on Tom Jones and Michael Jackson, creating what they call "a completely original sound" that can't be found anywhere else.
The band's regular residency at The Dawn Club consistently draws sold-out crowds who come for the infectious energy and intimate atmosphere. Past attendees describe the experience as stepping "into a candlelit room where the horns feel close enough to touch," with audience members noting that "the best part was meeting people and feeling the sense of community." The band's versatile style and engaging stage presence create a welcoming environment where "a crowd feels like old friends by the second set."
Expect to hear swing classics like "Come Fly With Me," "Blue Moon," and "Sway" alongside more contemporary selections like "Lovely Day" and their signature take on "It's Not Unusual." With some of Northern California's top vocalists and instrumentalists rotating through their lineup, each performance offers a fresh take on their dynamic repertoire that bridges decades of American popular music.
