Fog City Swing

Self-proclaimed "world's smallest big band," Fog City Swing brings their signature seven-piece swing sound to Local Edition's intimate setting. Created in 2023 by trumpeter Daniel Herrera and saxophonist Greg Johnson, this Bay Area ensemble has rapidly built a devoted following through their ongoing residency at the legendary Dawn Club.

The band's three-horn front line delivers an electrifying sound that spans from classic Sinatra and Count Basie to unexpected takes on Tom Jones and Michael Jackson. Their performances transport audiences to the 1940s while breathing fresh life into swing standards with stellar crooning vocals and what they call a "swing till you drop" rhythm section.

Fog City Swing's versatile repertoire extends beyond traditional jazz and swing into Motown and pop territory, living up to their billing as a band that covers "Jazz & Swing to Motown & Pop." The ensemble features some of Northern California's top vocalists and instrumentalists, creating what they describe as a "completely original sound" that delivers memorable performances unavailable anywhere else.

Their Dawn Club performances consistently sell out, establishing them as one of the preeminent jazz and swing bands in the region. The group's dynamic stage presence and ability to seamlessly blend eras and genres makes each show feel like both a nostalgic journey and a contemporary celebration of American music traditions.

Local Edition provides the perfect speakeasy atmosphere for Fog City Swing's time-traveling musical journey, where the intimate venue's vintage ambiance complements the band's mission to recreate the golden age of swing while adding their own modern twist.
