Javier Santiago’s first album “The Phoenix Sessions” was met with critical acclaim and was loved by jazz aficionados and jazz newbies alike, for good reason. This debut album achieves incredible musical prowess and provocativeness, somewhat reminiscent of the great fusion bands of the 90’s like Weather Report. But it discovers and explores themes, rhythms and sounds firmly rooted in the now. Javier will be offering a sneak preview of some of the B-Side tracks which will be released later this summer.
Javier’s exceptional talents extend beyond the keyboard to captivating performance and production elements. Santiago has studied and played with international jazz greats Christian McBride, Geoff Keezer, Robert Glasper, Joshua Redman and George Cables. Dave Brubeck selected him to participate in the Brubeck Institute Fellowship. Javi has played many great venues including the Kennedy Center, Iridium and Smalls in NYC, the Detroit Jazz Festival, Blues Alley in DC, and Yoshi’s in Oakland.
