Water Feature is comprised of some of the Bay Area’s young emerging talent. Together, the group explores original compositions and other tunes that pull from influences such as jazz, hip-hop, and global music.

About the artists:
Nora Stanley is a Bay Area-based saxophonist and composer who has shared the stage with such greats as Ambrose Akinmusire, Gary Bartz, Dayna Stephens, and Jerry Gonzalez, as well as performed at SFJAZZ and Monterey Jazz Festival.

Oakland-based vocalist Danielle Wertz was a semi-finalist in the 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition and performed in front of Luciana Souza, Al Jarreau, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patti Austin, and Freddy Cole. Most recently she took second place in the 2017 Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition, and third place in the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Vocal Competition. She has worked and performed with many renowned musicians including Cyrille Aimée, Gretchen Parlato, Chris Botti, Bruce Hornsby, Michael Bowie, Martin Bejerano, Claire Daly, Lena Seikaly, Mark Meadows, Billy Williams, Chris Grasso, Scott Weinhold, Champian Fulton, Dave Stryker, and Claudio Roditi. She frequently plays at local venues including the Black Cat and Red Poppy, as well as national venues including Blues Alley in Washington, DC.

With a firm grasp on the jazz idiom, Luis Salcedo is a featured member of several ensembles, as well as the leader of his own groups, covering original material, jazz repertoire, and beyond. Luis has performed at Yoshi’s Oakland, the Fillmore Jazz Festival, the Herbst Theater, and SFJAZZ.

Owen Clapp is a bay area based bass player, composer, and songwriter. His versatility on upright bass, electric bass, and keybass has given him the opportunity to work with a variety of artists across a range of genres, including hip-hop artists Anderson Paak, Dumbfoundead, and George Watsky, as well as Grammy Award-winning jazz musicians Kenny Burrell, John Clayton, Ruslan Sirota, Mads Tolling, and Evan Price.

Matthew Buckner is an active drummer, composer, and producer in the SF Bay Area jazz scene and can be heard with bands such as Aaron Kruziki’s Education Reform.
