Celebrate Black Cat’s second anniversary in style with NYC Rapper/Producer Kassa Overall feat. Theo Croker and Grammy-winning Bassist Evan Flory-Barnes
Kassa Overall is a drummer, rapper and producer – a multi genre “jazz” artist. He also has recorded and toured with Vijay Iyer, Steve Coleman and Dee Dee Bridgewater. He has built a following for his work as a rapper, which he considers to be an extension of his jazz canon. Kassa has DJ’d with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s house band, Jon Batiste and Stay Human. His most recent release. “Drake It ’til You Make It” combines his love of hip hop and jazz. With the masterful Theo Croker on trumpet, Grammy-winning bassist Evan Flory Barnes, and piano phenom Tim Kennedy, you’ll get a taste of their take on Snoop, Kanye, and of course, Drake.
Black Cat is always packed and vibing when Theo Croker is in the House. It is the same reason large venues across the globe are filled when his dynamo band hits the stage: they are nothing short of sensational. Downbeat in awarding a top 4 star rating to Theo’s newest album raved: “Escape Velocity is an amazing album of poise, power and ambition. Croker is an incredibly talented artist we will be listening to for a very long time!” Even though this latest album explores the ranges of jazz crossover sounds (hip hop, rap, funk and electronica), Croker is masterful in his exploration and reinterpretation of classic jazz standards, as well as taking those time-tested techniques and creating new standards of his own from contemporary hits.
Evan Flory-Barnes is a Grammy winning bassist, composer, singer/songwriter, performer, artist, living in Seattle. His music covers the range from Debussy to Dilla, Bartok to Bjork, Wayne Shorter to Q-tip.

Tim also leads and writes for the country rock band Hot Rod and the beloved electro dance band Richie Aldente. He spends his days recording/producing albums for artists out of his studio.
