Formed in 2017, the entirely international quartet features singer Susana Pineda, who is acclaimed by the music community of her hometown, Medellín, Colombia. Pineda writes original songs and arrangements in which she combines her South American grooves with modern jazz. Co-leading the ensemble is drummer Zach Mondlick, who hails from Berkeley, California. From Aichi, Japan, Shimpei Ogawa has been quickly recognized as one of the Bay Area’s top bassists. Pianist Morgan Maudiére rounds out the quartet, bringing all that is modern and tasteful from the cutting-edge world of European jazz and her native Sedan, France. Most recently, the group spent several weeks in Colombia to record their debut album, NeoTropical, to be released on July 6, 2018.
