This year’s Kronos Festival highlights the expansive sonic worlds of David Coulter, who serves as the festival’s artist-in-residence. In this special, intimate event, the renowned improviser explores soundscapes on musical saw and other instruments, accompanied by Iranian-American composer and keyboardist Sahba Aminikia, experimental percussion and electric guitar duo The Living Earth Show and sound artist bran(…)pos. Known for his work with the likes of The Pogues, Tom Waits, Robert Wilson, Laurie Anderson, Yoko Ono, Beck and the Gorillaz, the British-born, Bay Area-based multidisciplinary artist, musician, composer, director and educator has worked with Kronos since the 1990s. Together, they recently recorded the soundtrack to The Guardian VR’s “Sea Prayer,” a 360-degree illustrated film written by novelist Khaled Hosseini.

For more than 40 years, San Francisco’s Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet has reimagined and redefined the string quartet experience. Kronos’ fourth annual hometown music festival highlights new and recent collaborations with incredible guests performing in six concerts over three days.
