French guitarist Romain Pilon is among Paris's most lauded jazz musicians. He is a founding member of the Paris jazz Underground Collective, which unites some of Paris finest and most creative improvisers and composers. His latest album NY3 featuring Matt Brewer and Colin Stranahan heralded Pilon in the international press as one of the stand-out musicians in Paris.  Pilon’s debut WWR release Colorfield features new music with young stars Walter Smith III, Michael Janisch and Jamire Williams. His partnership with tenor saxophonist David Prez, the David Prez/ Romain Pilon Group, has released two albums to critical acclaim, “…probably one of the most sincere and enthusiastic jazz groups to emerge in France” -Jazzman.

Romain trained at Berklee College of Music, and has played with some of the worlds great improvising musicians: Christian Scott, Esperanza Spalding, Walter Smith III, Leo Genovesie, Matt Brewer, Lionel Loueke, Warren Wolf, Carlos Henriquez, Seamus Blake, Perico Sambeat, Alex Sipiagin, and Danillo Perez.

Recent performances have included many prestigious venues and festivals such as Malta Jazz Festival, PizzaExpress (London), Jazz Bar (Edinburgh), Jazz in Marciac, Jazz à Couches, Crescent Jazz Club, Wally’s (Boston), Duc des Lombards, Sunset/ Sunside (Paris), Centro Quatro (Belo Horyzonte), Brosella Jazz Festival (Belgium), Eurojazz Festival (Mexico), King's Place (London), Duc des Lombards (Paris), Recife Jazz Festival (Brazil), Kriol Jazz Festival (Cape Verde), and Unterfarht Munich (Germany), Cité de la Musique, and the Blue Note Milan.

A listening pleasure that brings me back to other emotions from the discovery of Jim Hall’s records ... or the first Pat Metheny of Bright Size Life
