Constant Stranger unites three improvisers and composers, Richard Sears (NYC) on piano, Martin Nevin (NYC) on bass, and Guilhem Flouzat (Paris) on drums. The name of the ensemble refers to the source of inspiration for all creative acts. Inspiration comes in unexpected forms at unexpected times, although people try to grasp it, control it, or become friendly or familiar with it. It is not a muse that we know and understand, but rather distant face, a constant stranger. This show celebrates the collective’s debut album release.
Members of the trio have performed with the likes of Jason Moran, Mark Turner, Billy Hart, Aaron Parks, Becca Stevens, and others. The program will feature original compositions by Sears, Nevin, and Flouzat.
