The nucleus trio of Brian Andres’s Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel (ACJC) present their own arrangements of compositions, featuring Grammy Award-winning musicians Christian Tumalan on piano and David Pinto on bass. As they have with the larger ACJC ensemble, the trio exerts a firm grip on the music’s cutting edge, playing with confidence, poise, and rhythmic imagination.

Led by drummer Brian Andres, the Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel (ACJC) was formed to contribute its own mark to the San Francisco Bay Area’s history of Latin jazz. Featuring Grammy Award-winning musicians and esteemed music educators, their repertoire consists of original compositions as well as exciting arrangements of classics from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States.
Tumalan also co-leads the Pacific Mambo Orchestra, and Pinto was the music director for Peruvian songstress Susana Baca prior to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area.
