From his work with John McLaughlin in Shakti and his Silk Road Project collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma to his founding role in Mickey Hart’s Planet Drum and his ever-expanding array of alliances with jazz improvisers, Hussain has built musical bridges around the world. Hussain is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan - India's third highest civilian award, and the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship.
