Yilian Cañizares is a Cuban-Swiss violinist, singer, and composer born in Havana who skillfully blends jazz, classical music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms with her distinctive voice. Known for her virtuosic technique and spiritual approach to performance, she won the 2008 Montreux Jazz Festival Competition with her quartet Ochumare and has collaborated with artists including Chucho Valdés, Omar Sosa, and Ibrahim Maalouf.
