Steve Smith is an accomplished drummer best known for his work with the rock band Journey and his leadership of the jazz fusion group Vital Information since 1983. His drumming style embodies the history of U.S. music, spanning jazz fusion, bebop, swing, and rock, and he has recorded with diverse artists including Zakir Hussain, Bill Evans, Mike Stern, and Ahmad Jamal. Smith was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and has been voted multiple times as a top fusion and jazz drummer by Modern Drummer magazine.
