Milton 'Shorty' Rogers (1924-1994) was one of the principal creators of West Coast jazz, renowned for his work as a trumpeter, flugelhornist, and arranger. He played with Woody Herman and Stan Kenton before leading his own groups, and later became a prolific composer for television and film throughout the 1960s-1980s.
