Matt Pavolka is a seasoned bassist, trombonist, and composer who has been a vital force in the New York jazz and creative music scenes for over two decades. Originally trained as a trombonist under David Baker, he switched to bass at Berklee College of Music, where he earned the Charles Mingus Award for composition. Based in Brooklyn, he has performed and recorded with numerous leading musicians including Paul Motian, Lee Konitz, and Guillermo Klein.
