Matt Mitchell is an American jazz pianist and composer born in 1975 who works at the intersections of composed and improvised new music. A master's graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he has been a core member of ensembles led by Tim Berne, Dave Douglas, and John Hollenbeck, while leading his own groups and teaching at the Center for Improvisational Music in New York.
