Marvin "Smitty" Smith is a prolific jazz drummer born June 24, 1961 in Waukegan, Illinois, who has recorded on over 200 albums as a sideman and released two solo albums as a bandleader. A Berklee College of Music graduate, he is known for his sensitive yet authoritative playing and has worked with jazz luminaries including Sonny Rollins, Dave Holland, Steve Coleman, and served as drummer for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno band from 1995-2009.
