Martha High

Martha High is an American singer and soul/funk vocalist best known for her 32-year career as James Brown's principal backing vocalist and 'The Goddess of Soul.' Born in Victoria, Virginia in 1945, she began performing in the 1960s with the vocal group The Jewels before joining Brown's revue, and has since maintained a successful solo career performing at major jazz festivals worldwide.
