Kim Nalley

Dr. Kim Nalley is a celebrated San Francisco jazz vocalist with a remarkable 3½ octave range, discovered by conductor Michael Tilson Thomas while performing unamplified at Alta Plaza. A Rounder Records artist who has performed at major venues worldwide including Lincoln Center and Monterey Jazz Festival, she combines her performance career with scholarly work, holding a Ph.D. in history from UC Berkeley with research focusing on African American jazz musicians and cultural history.
