Jayla Hernández is an Afro-Latina drummer from West Oakland rooted in Cuban heritage, currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on a full scholarship. Versed in swing, blues, hip hop, R&B, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, she has collaborated with members of the SFJAZZ Collective and other jazz luminaries, and was selected as one of only 15 fellows globally for the prestigious Ravinia Steans Music Institute.
