Saxophonist, composer, and educator Jason Gillenwater has emerged as one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most sought-after musicians since relocating from New York City in 2011. His distinguished career includes a long-standing tenure as featured soloist with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (1999–2011) and service as a United States Jazz Ambassador, touring internationally under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of State and Jazz at Lincoln Center. A gifted improviser reminiscent of Joe Henderson and Tony Malaby, Gillenwater leads his own quartet and trio while maintaining an active presence with ensembles like Jazz Mafia's Realistic Orchestra and the Grammy-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra.
