Fred Wesley is a legendary trombonist and bandleader best known for his work as music director and arranger for James Brown's J.B.'s (1968-1975), where he helped define the sound of funk. He later arranged for and performed with Parliament-Funkadelic and George Clinton, and has maintained a prolific jazz career since joining the Count Basie Orchestra in 1978, releasing numerous solo albums and continuing to tour with his band Fred Wesley & The New JBs.
