Fareed Haque is a modern guitar virtuoso born in Chicago in 1963 to a Pakistani father and Chilean mother. Steeped in both classical and jazz traditions with extensive world music influences, he has recorded as a leader for Blue Note Records and performed with jazz luminaries including Joe Henderson, Herbie Mann, Cassandra Wilson, and Joe Zawinul, while also co-founding the jam fusion group Garaj Mahal.
