Endea Owens & the Cookout

Detroit-raised bassist and composer known as one of jazz's most vibrant emerging artists, Endea Owens leads the Cookout, an acoustic bass-led sextet featuring rhythmically charged music influenced by the hard bop era. A Juilliard graduate and member of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's house band, she has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and others, while founding The Community Cookout nonprofit to provide meals and music to underserved communities worldwide.
