David Byrd

Born and raised on Chicago's musical mecca of 47th Street, David Byrd is an alto saxophonist and vocalist who pioneered the fusion of jazz and reggae. After studying under Bunky Green at Chicago State University and performing with jazz legends, he founded Byrds of a Feather in 1983, blending the vocal traditions of vocalese with reggae's socially conscious messages. Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Byrd continues to spread his unique JazzReggae sound through original compositions and masterful interpretations.
