Brian Settles

Brian Settles is a Washington, DC-born saxophonist and composer who has established himself as a rising force in modern jazz. A graduate of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, Settles blends intimate command of the jazz lineage with an experimental voice, performing regularly with groups including Tomas Fujiwara and The Hook Up and Michael Formanek's Cheating Heart. Known for his distinctive warbling, viscous tone and versatile expressiveness, he has released two critically acclaimed albums as a leader: Secret Handshake (2011) and Folk (2013).
