Brad Mehldau is an acclaimed American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger born in 1970 who has recorded and performed extensively since the early 1990s. He is known for blending jazz with classical impressionism, pop, and rock influences, and for his signature technique of simultaneous playing of different melodies in separate hands. His most consistent work has been in the trio format with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummers Jorge Rossy (until 2005) and Jeff Ballard, though he has also collaborated extensively with classical musicians and artists like Pat Metheny.
